Architecture meets fashion

Architecture meets fashion, sculpture meets style, nature meets tech: Welcome to the future, as imagined by Lana Dumitru and Vlad Tenu.

The partnership between the Romanian fashion designer and the London-based architect has resulted in an otherworldly clothing range that could sit happily in a wardrobe or an art gallery.

The collection’s flagship piece is a dress crafted from 25,000 individual Swarovski crystals, which took a team of 15 people six months to assemble.

Its futuristic aesthetic has a historic heart, however, taking the colors and patterns of a traditional Romanian rug and digitally reconstructing them in crystal form. “The complexity of this dress has reached an engineering level only possible through full 3D simulations, algorithmic design methods and digital prototyping,” says Tenu. “It is a new kind of artefact.” This dress is boldly going where no dress has gone before.
